Is Hair Transplant procedure painful?

Hair transplant is performed under local anesthesia. Once the anesthesia is given in the donor and the recipient area, the area becomes numb and the patient feels no pain or discomfort during the surgery.

Hair Transplant is very delicate procedure. You can expect good lifetime results if you carefully adhere to few important post-op instructions.

Will the transplanted hair look completely natural?

Hair transplant when performed by skilled surgeon and correct techniques will look so natural that even your family and friends will have difficulty in distinguishing between the transplanted hair and the surrounding existing hairs.

We at Hair & Senses try to mimic the nature by transplanting the hair in its naturally occurring grouping of 1, 2, 3 and 4 hairs in a randomly dispersed manner.

Can hair of another person be transplanted in my scalp?

It is not possible to use donor hair from another person as the transplanted hair will be rejected by the body. This is due to the highly antigenic nature of skin.

Will people know I had a hair transplant?

The transplanted area will be covered with scabs for at least one week. If the transplant is done in a small area it can be camouflaged by the surrounding hair but in case of larger sessions one may need to cover the scabs with a cap. Once the scabs are removed after 7 to 10days most patients feels comfortable to move in public without wearing a cap.

Will transplanted hair fall after some years?

The hair follicles taken from the donor area is genetically resistant to the hormone which causes hairloss. The transplanted hair will continue to grow for a lifetime.

How long does it take for the transplanted hair to grow?

The transplanted hair follicles start to grow three to five months following surgery. It takes a year for all the follicles to grow and fully mature.

Are there any side effects of Hair transplant?

Hair transplant is a very safe procedure with a very few side effects. The common side effects are swelling, numbness, itching, pain and local infections. However these are usually minimal and short term.

How do I maintain the transplanted hair?

The transplanted hair does not need any special maintenance. It can be washed, combed, cut and styled as same as the natural existing hair.

How many sessions will be required?

The number of sessions required will depend on
1) The area of hairloss
2) The number of grafts transplanted
3) The density which the patient desires
4) The characteristic of the hair eg. the coarse will provide more dense look in comparison to fine hair. The estimate of number of sessions required can by discussed with the surgeon during consultation.

Will people notice that I had a hair transplant?

The only thing inconvenient with hair transplant is the patient will acquire scabs after the procedure. However, this would only last for at least a week and at most 10 days. If the transplant is administered in just a small area, your natural hair can cover these spots. But if the patient had a hair transplant over a large area of his or her scalp, he or she might need to resort to wearing a cap. Once the scabs healed, the patient can walk and move as if no operation happened on his scalp.

What is the cost of hair transplant in your clinic?

It is not possible to give an estimate of the cost without seeing the picture of hair loss area. For that the client need to send us the picture of the hairloss area or he can visit our clinic for consultation. The cost depends upon number of follicles transplanted.
