Body hair transplant comes into play when the patient does not have enough scalp donor grafts. Patient should be counseled meticulously before the surgery about the the difference between the growth pattern, hair cycle and different texture when the body hairs are used as donor hair grafts.
Ideally, patient wet shave (with shaving cream and razor blade) the donor area 4 to 5 days before the surgery date. In case of beard being used as a donor, last shave should be done around 3 days before the surgery. This step is very important aspect of the procedure when body hair is to be used. By wet
shaving as mentioned above, one can identify the grafts which are in active or anagen phase. Then one can extract these grafts and transplant them in the recipient area. This ensure good result.
