Menopause is the normal physiological phenomenon that occurs after a certain age which is most likely after 45 to 50 years of age.

The body undergoes many physiological and physical changes during this period of life due to changes in the level of hormones. During menopause hair loss is commonly seen. This is generally due to the reduction in the level of estrogen and progesterone (female hormones). This causes an imbalance in the action of female hormones and the androgen leading to the increased activity of androgen. This leads to a slowing of hair growth and some miniaturization of hair follicles which ultimately causing hair loss.
