Pimples on scalp after hair transplant are a common finding. These pimples are not same as pimples/acne on face. The post surgery pimples result from the inflammation of the hair follicle. This is mainly due to ingrown hairs and also due to the irritation beneath the skin surface caused by the emerging hair shaft. These generally occur in the recipient sites when the newly transplanted follicles are just starting to grow. While they can resolve spontaneously, it is always advisable to consult your doctor. The doctor may advise either to wait for it to resolve on its own or doctor may squeeze and pop it out. One may require an oral antibiotic or topical antibiotic ointment/cream.
