A common question which is asked during the consultation is that whether smoking will affect my result
and should I stop smoking.
With smoking, the nicotine component causes vasodilatation, which means that it leads to constriction of small blood vessels. This in turn reduces the blood supply to the scalp thereby affecting the graft uptake, their growth and also it can cause delay in wound healing.
So it is better to stop smoking at least 2 weeks before surgery.
